Build Guide

This build plays aggressively and in the face of the NPC’s, who you hit very hard (an average of 83K per bullet vs elites, the same as an AR based 8K firearms Striker with 40% DtE and 70% EAD with ~45 stacks built up). At 122K skill power the shield has ~780K health which I’ve found is enough for up to Challenging PvE, it only breaks if I’ve done something stupid. Keep your shield and any environmental objects between yourself and the NPC’s. Using the environment smartly can allow your shield to regen its health. You can also use a medkit to restore its health and yours if you’re in a bad situation. Nomad gives you some HoK which is enough to keep you alive and not need a healing skill. If Recovery Link goes off, swap to the secondary (sprint for a moment and swap in that moment, end the sprint) to get it back quickly with Determined then swap back.

Notes:

  1. The Striker piece can be any gear set or high end of your choice. I use Striker since I hate managing recoil. The 1 stamina roll can be anywhere. Likewise, the gear pieces can be anywhere, mine is this way for aesthetic reasons.
  2. I use Booster Shot to provide more damage rather than healing. I typically save it for a heavy or boss. I used to use Recon pulse for a quick cool down and larger range. But Precision and it conflict with Pulse overriding Precision but Precision giving more damage output (more CHD). 
  3. If you don't have a Ninja bag you can use 4 D3FNC and 2 Nomad for the same effect.

  • How are you getting 83k per bullet? I've got an identical weapon, with 3 classy D3 pieces, 2 classy Predator pieces (for SMG damage boost and reload boost), and a Ninja pack, all with the same attributes or better, and I'm maxing out at 33k per bullet per Elite.

  • No. D3’s 4 piece bonus allows you to use an SMG while the shield is deployed instead of the sidearm. You’d lose the power of the set running two LMG’s. You could replace one of SMG’s for one LMG. Then you’d have the power of the set with the shield deployed an a weapon for taking cover with that hits better at range than an SMG.

  • Could I switch the two SMG’s for two LMG’s. I have two Great rolled exotic LMG’s that I have been waiting to put on a build untouched and thought that if possible, it could go to good use on this.
