Lone Star was one of my very first 6 piece classified sets I was able to obtain. The excitement of getting your first full classified and moments similar to that is why I love this game. So you could say I have a special place in my heart for Lone Star. Now I know Lone Star lacks in survivability in both PVE and PVP but having the damage potential is what this build is all about. The main perk we want to focus on this build is Berserker because it’s just stupid good! It’s like having a Tact Link for free. So because of this we want to do as much sustained damage as we can, so we’ll be setting our gear to help Lone Star fulfill its potential. I’m going to assume you already know what the classified perks do so I’ll just be focusing on how to set up the build and why. Now for the foundation of the stats we want to have three pieces of gear rolled into Firearms and two into Stamina. Doesn't matter which pieces of gear but you could also swap Firearms and Stamina if you want a little more Stamina and have three pieces rolled into it. So, let’s get started!
Chest: Health, easy choice here. One of the best attributes to have but you could put Health on Kill if you’re up to it. My opinion on Health on Kill is either you roll it in every slot you can which gives you 15% or not at all. For the second slot, Enemy Armor Damage. We want to do as much damage as we can so this will help out with Elite enemies. For the minor Ammo Capacity.
Mask: Enemy Armor Damage, to stack with the other gear. Damage to Elites is something that is preferred at every available slot.
Kneepads: Health and Damage to Elites to stack with the other gear. The rest of the minor slots can be your preference. I like having Disrupt and Burn Resistance.
Backpack: Stability. I know, I know. Why that?! Well we want sustained damage and to do that we need to hit all of our shot. Especially headshot to do the max amount of damage. So I like to put stability mods and perks everywhere I can for this build. For the minor Disrupt Resistance but that could be your preference.
Gloves: Now with gloves Skill Haste, Enemy Armor Damage and LMG Damage is what I’m looking for. If I was running Health on Kill I would switch it out with Skill Haste. Since I’m not running it at all, getting my skills a little faster sounds really good to me.
Holster: Health is the easy option here. Typically I would have Reload Speed but with the Lone Star 4 piece perk we don’t have to ever reload.
Gear Mods: Damage to Elite mods are a must in every DPS PVE build and for this build I have them set for Firearms.
Performance Mods: First Aid Self Heal is the option I would go with just to help me stay alive a bit better.
For the Weapons we want to have the same type with the same perks or at least try to. I was lucky to have two Big Alejandros to drop with similar perks which was exactly what I wanted. We want to be consistent so having both weapons mirror each other is great. Every time we swap weapons we know what perks are active and what to expect. I like to mod both these weapons with stability on the Scope and Muzzle but also an extended Magazine. I know for some builds running extended mags on Lone Star is a no go but hear me out. The Big Al fires so quick that we would have to be witching our weapon all the time even with Berserker active. I like having the extra bullets especially when we want to get that 50% extra damage the Big Al does while staking shots.
Big Alejandro: Accurate, this perk in my opinion is a must. Having constant damage and being able to hit your shots is very important and this perk make a world of a difference. The second slot that is just as important is Predatory. With very little survivability in our set, this perk is going to be the reason why we gain health throughout our kills. It is a must or else we would have to run health on Kill instead of Enemy Armor Damage. The Big Alejandro exotic perk can give us up to 50% more damage as long as were in cover and hitting our shots. Pair that with 6 Piece damage bonus of Berserker and that’s a total of 80% more damage! That’s ridiculous!
Skills: The Skills on the build is really up to you. I like having Support Station to have that burst of health when I drop and explode it. It could really help out in a hairy situation. The second skill that I think is very underrated is Flashbang. Crowd control perks is so good in PVE and Flashbang is one of the best. Especially because it’s so easy to suppress hostile with LMGs.
Talents: I like having Critical Save and Steady Hands in pretty much every build, they’re just amazing talents. Now for the other I run Shock and Awe and Stopping Power. Weird right, since we’re probably going to suppress a lot of NPCs these two perks work so well together! Shock and Awe gives us 25% movement speed and Stopping power give us that 25% headshot damage. So once you suppress someone, just rush them. It’s surprisingly effective and not to mention a blast!
To wrap things up, this build makes you feel extremely powerful which is always a good feeling. The build becomes a complete one man wrecking crew if you have a decent healer in the team but even without one I still find a lot of success and an amazing time with it. There is nothing better than having the Berserk perk activate multiply times! If you think of something else that is helpful that I didn’t mention in the build or want to share your build let me know at Twitter.com/WhoaGambit. I appreciate you taking the time to check my build out. I hope this helped out even to get an idea on how to make your own build. Have fun!!
